It's the way of the automotive industry. Some cars stay, some cars go, and some of the departed are beloved more than others. One that we miss in particular here at Lithia Toyota of Medford would be the Supra, which left the American lineup in 1998. According to some reports from the ever-connected Autoblog, however, it may be coming back.

The rumor mill for the Supra is quite prolific, churning out dozens upon dozens of whispers a year. The last solid one we had was way back in 2007, when Toyota brought us the FT-HS Concept, a car that in our minds fit the bill for a modern Supra--or at least, a Supra successor.

Unfortunately, the automotive industry took a proverbial swan dive after that, and the most tantalizing of those rumors ceased.

Until now.

According to the sources, Toyota is planning on unleashing a powerful Supra concept at this year's Detroit Auto Show. While it will mostly be in prototype form, the whisperers said that the car would bear a strong resemblance to a production iteration to follow.

Is it true? We'll have to wait and see. The Detroit throw down is a month off, so we have a bit of time to wait, and the friendly folks in the Toyota PR department are being as secretive as they come. We have quite a bit of hope, given Autoblog's track record.

While we wait, if you're needing a reliable new Toyota auto for the new year, our dealership in Medford, OR is your one-stop shop for automotive excellence. Drop by our showroom and see what we have in store.
