With models like the iconic Toyota Prius and the all-new RAV4 EV helping to keep the air here in Medford, OR nice and clean, Toyota obviously has the green game covered. So what's next for the Japanese automotive giant; kick back, relax, and just enjoy their contributions to the segment?
Not a chance; they're pushing the ecofriendly envelop even further in developing a hydrogen fuel cell model. In fact, the Toyota FCV Concept is already complete and it's ready to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in late November. Aesthetically the car boasts a very sleek look and even standing still it evokes a sense of motion. Perhaps it's just looking ahead to the next wave of clean automotive technology.
In terms of function, the concept can cover over 300 miles before its pair of hydrogen tanks needs refueling. And with its increased voltage and decreased onboard fuel cells, Toyota has managed to make the vehicle even more affordable than previous hydrogen vehicle.
Finally, although this is a concept we're dealing with, it will actually precede a model that's heading for production in 2015. That means that in just a couple quick years, we could have hydrogen fuel cell vehicles right here at Lithia Toyota of Medford. The bonus is that while we wait for the technology to make its way to Medford, we have a range of ecofriendly and efficient new Toyota models to tide us over.
